Description

Artist’s notes:

He may not look like your typical Gibson SG slinger but there’s a rock ‘n roll poise in this detail taken from a street mural done in Lisbon in 2012. You get a strong feeling that he knows his way around that guitarra Portuguesa (traditional Portuguese guitar). The painting was done as part of a series on walls along the tracks of the Elevador da Glória (Gloria Funicular) in 2012, perhaps commissioned by the Municipality of Lisbon. I am sure that the guitarist is Carlos Paredes, a legend of the Portuguese guitar for a large part of the 20th Century. The cover of his 1967 album Guitarra Portuguesa was probably the basis of this street artist’s work. All practice is worthwhile practice.

Printing process and papers:

Our limited edition art prints are created “on-demand”- they are custom printed and quality checked by one of Manchester’s best fine art printing studios only once we have received your order.

What does “giclée” mean? French for a squirt or a spray, it came to be applied to the high quality inkjet printing that was first used to make reproductions of paintings, drawings or photos. Works of purely digital origin or software enhanced photos now provide the source of many giclée prints.

We use state of the art 12 colour Canon LUCIA pigment ink and large format printers. Choose between archival standard Hahnemuhle Photo Rag, a premium fine art paper with its own distinct texture; or Origin Matt paper which provides good balance between price and vivid print output.
